International Health Insurance

International concept of health or medical expenses insurance varies considerably from offering of insurance companies in Latvia. If local health insurance is mostly bough to cover relatively low current expenses concerned with health care and preventive measures over the insurance period, then international health insurance policies usually:

• Are oriented towards long-term risk and large expenses (Sums Insured often are higher than 1,000,000.00 EUR);
• Provide high indemnities in cases of serious illnesses in any European clinic or elsewhere;
• Cover costs of expensive surgeries, treatment of chronic diseases (if discovered after the purchase of policy), and medicine not covered by local companies, for example – treatment of oncology, cardiology, immunity diseases, etc.
• Are more expensive (annual premiums starting from LVL 500).
